Wilderness Resort with Chocolate

Wilderness resort with chocolate?

In a word, yes.

Here is what you need to know before arrival:

When you arrive at Tarraleah, you will for a moment think that you are in a real town. Don't be deceived by the pastel coloured houses. All check in for Tarraleah's accommodation is available at Reception, the large building housing the cafe across from the village green.

Eftpos/Credit Card facilities are available in the Highlander Restaurant, Teez Café and the Estate Reception. However we dont carry much cash on site, so small or correct change is appreciated.

Internet access is included in The Lodge for Lodge guests, however is not available in other areas. You can use your Telstra device in two areas of the property if you are a Telstra account holder.

Landline telephones are available in each Cottage and Lodge room, as well as through reception during normal working hours and also in The Highlander Restaurant.

There are laundry facilities in the campsite utility area, in the cottages and the scholars house. A dry cleaning service is also available from Hobart - but not if you are in a hurry, allow 3 weeks by bullock cart.

If you are interested in Tasmanian art, craft or clothing, we can help. We've found some of the best art and craft from the local area and have it available for sale in the Highland Store. We're also proud to carry the Smitten range of Tasmanian superfine merino wool clothing. Chocolate? Yes -, also lollies, chips and other junk food.

If you've left home without a good book, you are also in luck and if you have read this far and still want to know where you can buy chocolate, join everyone else as we waddle off to the Highland Store.

Unfortunately, there isn't a nearby grocery store or supermarket, so if you are intending to cook your own meals during your stay, you will need to bring ingredients with you or shop in Ouse, Queenstown, Strahan or Hobart. You can also get fuel in Ouse, Wayatinah, Derwent Bridge and Bronte Park (not at Tarraleah) but dont leave it too late in the day as many services have limited trading hours.
