The Lodge was originally built in the 1930’s, in an Art Deco style, to house the cream of Tasmania’s pioneering hydro electricity officers and gentlemen. The guest book featured the powerful and famous and if you have the time to listen, has hosted more than its share of the risqué!
Comprehensively refurbished in 2006, The Lodge retains the original 1930’s craftsmanship and now incorporates contemporary Tasmanian design and the latest in modern communication. Deluxe guest rooms and suites have been sympathetically built within the outer building shell and now incorporate the very finest of small luxury hotel living.
The Wildside Kitchen is a Tasmanian cooking school situated in the Heritage Village of Tarraleah just a two hour drive from Hobart and Launceston in the Central Highlands. The Wildside Kitchen runs a series of one and two day courses throughout the year teaching participants how to cook, prepare and preserve Tasmania’s wonderful fresh local produce.
Along the way our guests get to meet the producers, select the best of Tasmania’s produce, learn how to catch and prepare wild salmon and trout, and sample some of the best local and international wines and whiskey’s.
Whether it is a secluded location for a private high-end incentive, a quiet and affordable place to reinvigorate a team, or an exciting conference venue for up to 120 guests, you’ll find the Highland Estate Conference Centre has everything you need and all only 2 hours drive from Hobart or Launceston.
