Exquisite Central Highlands Accommodation
Once a thriving working town, Tarraleah Estate, now privately owned, has inherited a legacy of historic buildings, each with its own charm and character. Ideally located in the Central Highlands and a comfortable distance from the Great Lake and Derwent Bridge, the Estate now offers a range of accommodation options to suit any budget or preference, from award winning luxury to camping grounds. For luxury, consider our award-winning 1930's Lodge, with its elegant style, cliff top spa and amazing views of the valley below. Each of the nine suites offer luxury in a hotel style room, with king size beds, spacious bathrooms with spa or bathtub, underfloor heating and luxury amenities. Relax in the guest lounge with an open fireplace and honour bar.
The charmingly quaint, self-contained Art Deco Cottages are perfect for couple or family getaways, offering three or four bedrooms and plenty of character. Each cottage was a family home, constructed in 1939, and has been lovingly restored and filled with both original art deco and contemporary Tasmanian pieces. The cottages are all equipped with a kitchen, lounge room with fireplace, 2 bathrooms and laundry.
The Scholars House is a contemporary conversion of the town's old schoolhouse, the school rooms having been converted into two-storey, en-suite hotel rooms. It offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, a large shared chef’s kitchen and dining space, as well as an open fire and guest laundry.
Tarraleah also features the Highland Caravan Park, with twenty powered sites and plenty of space for unpowered camping, barbeque, laundry and newly renovated bathrooms. The Highlander Cabins form part of the caravan park, and offer a kitchenette, double bed and small ensuite.
